Project: Initiation

The purpose of Project: Initiation is to make the VR Lab just as well known and as much of an open and inviting space as the SSC, the Cafe, or the Pratt building. Students should be made aware of the space, and it should be made clear when the space is open.

Project: Initiation is comprised of multiple components. The first being a campaign to not only ignite interest and spread awareness of the VR Lab's existence, but to also start a community. As community is a big part of YCCC's Mission, Purpose, and Vision.

Part A - Enter the Hawkverse

🎥✨ Campaign Title:

Enter the Hawkverse

🌌 Core Concept:

A quiet, almost cryptic campaign that whispers to students: "There’s more than meets the eye. The Hawkverse is real. Are you ready to find the fearless you?"

Think: posters and digital assets that hint at something hidden — a portal, a glimmer, a hawk’s shadow, glowing eyes — but never show too much. A red-tailed hawk replaces the white rabbit as the symbol of discovery.

🕊️ Signature Phrase:

“Follow the red-tailed hawk.”

Minimalist. Mysterious. Almost like an urban legend on campus. A hawk on a poster with just that one line. Maybe a faint glimmer of VR goggles in its eyes.

🌀 Teaser Posters / Digital Banners:

You’ve felt it, haven’t you?

That nudge. That pull. That whisper.

Follow the red-tailed hawk.

Enter the Hawkverse.

This isn’t a simulation.

This is your future calling.

The Hawkverse is open.

Find the fearless you.

What if we told you…

everything you need to change your life

is already within you?

You just need to step in.

Enter the Hawkverse.

Some portals are hidden in plain sight.

Some journeys begin with one choice.

Some hawks don’t just fly — they guide.

Follow the red-tailed hawk.

🧭 Visual Ideas:

A stylized red-tailed hawk silhouette perched on a VR headset glowing like a magical artifact.

Campus landmarks slightly distorted like a ripple in reality — hinting at alternate layers.

A hawk’s shadow stretching across a hallway, with binary code or magical glyphs faintly embedded.

An augmented reality scavenger hunt, where students “follow the hawk” by scanning QR codes around campus that unlock mysterious clues or VR demos.

✨ Interactive Hook:

Create a secret webpage or a landing page at hawkverse.yccc.edu, yccc.edu/hawkverse, and/or virtual.yccc.edu/hawkverse that features cryptic animations, a countdown, and a VR preview.

Here is an example: Hawkverse

🔁 Subtle Pop Culture Touches:

“The world you know is just the beginning.” (Matrix nod.)

“Every great journey starts with an invitation.” (Hogwarts letter vibes.)

“Portals open for those ready to see them.” (Marvel multiverse feels.)

Part B - Signs and Guides

A sign on the door stating whether the VR Lab (Hawkverse) is open, and if not, where one can book a time to use the VR headsets (enter the Hawkverse).

Member cards can be found in the Cafe, on tables, and at events. These cards can be used to gamify the use of the VR lab, allowing people to keep their cards and earn stamps for accomplishing certain tasks: https://www.canva.com/design/DAGi9Ngb3IA/NjH4odmMVKqVxiK5OuctPQ/edit?utm_content=DAGi9Ngb3IA&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton

Flyers with QR code and links can be found throughout the college, as well as a spot on the TVs.

Part C - Events

SSC Events (probably Wednesdays from 11:00AM to 1:00PM)

Cafe Events

Pratt Events

Workshops

Training Sessions

Walk around the campus while wearing the VR headset. (Like the Hawk walking around campus to gain attention, but for VR).

Part D - Club, Esports, and Student Engagement

These are things that have to be run by and for students. So, I have to market and be on the lookout for students who would want to start anything.
